What’s up with the teenagers in New Zealand? First Lorde and now 19-year-old London-born, New Zealand-based Thomas Stoneman, a.k.a. Thomston. He recorded a bunch of songs in his bedroom last year, popped them up on Soundcloud in early 2014 and found people were clicking like crazy. His second five song EP—Argonaut—dropped in July and features a batch of sleekly crafted, nu R&B cuts. Like BANKS, like Josef Salvat, Thomston tunes are musically lush and lyrically intimate: a thoroughly modern take on pop.
